What’s new in Windows 11:
– Windows 11 will get a completely new design. It’s clear that Microsoft needs a good reason to retract its previous statements and continue to abandon Windows 10 by introducing a new number for the operating system. And the brand new design is perfect for that. The giant from Redmond has long been preparing an update with the code name Sun Valley (Valley of the Sun) – it seems that Windows 11 has appeared on the network for a long time The Sun Valley Project – Microsoft. In a way, details about the new interface style were regularly revealed, insiders shared previously unknown information, and popular designers in their circle drew realistic concepts based on all this data.
– Startup and system items will float above the bottom bar. Start is the calling card and face of every latest version of Windows. It is not surprising that in the Windows 11 operating system, developers will transform it again, but not so much from a functional point of view as from a visual point of view – the Start window will move above the bottom bar. We have to admit that this small change makes the system look a lot fresher. Judging by the information on the network, Microsoft will not radically change the “interior” of this menu – the innovations will affect only the design of the window itself. The control panel will also float and will have the exact same design as Start. The action center will be combined with the control buttons – a similar feature that has been used for a long time in other operating systems. Almost all mentions of this new menu indicate that it will be an island, with controls on a separate panel, notifications on another, and specific items (like the player) on yet another.
– Steep corners will disappear, replaced by tabs. Indeed, insiders and creators of concepts are divided on this issue, with some convinced that Microsoft will not change its tradition and stick to right angles, while others are convinced that in 2021 Microsoft will follow the fillet trends. The latter better fits the definition of “all-new Windows”—a hover menu alone isn’t enough to qualify a new design as truly new. Tabs are expected to affect almost everything in the system, from context menus and system panels to all application windows. True, even in this matter, the opinions of concept developers differ – some draw fillets in all possible interface elements, others combine them at right angles.
– The background will be transparent with a fade. The internet is divided on the style of the window display island, the design of the corners and the levitation effect of the menu, but almost everyone agrees on the transparency of the windows. The vast majority of design leaks and renders show transparency and fading in all windows, whether it’s at least the Start menu or the browser. Moreover, these effects are present even when installing the canceled Windows 10X operating system, which Microsoft developed for devices with two screens and weak apps in parallel with the Sun Valley project. The so-called acrylic transparency includes the use of new effects when hovering over elements, as well as increased spaces between elements – those areas of the interface with which the user interacts will certainly become larger, and page titles will be highlighted.
– New font that was already displayed. Windows 11 will likely use the default responsive Segoe UI Variable font, which already appeared in Windows 10 Build 21376 for Insiders. Its advantage is that it is equally suitable for small texts and large notes.
